Shirley Mae Merry

WATERLOO - Shirley Merry, 92, of Waterloo, Iowa passed away on June 5, 2019 while under the care of Hospice at Sunrise Hill Care in Traer, Iowa.

Shirley was born February 27, 1927 in Waterloo where she lived and worked. She and her husband, William Merry were married in 1948 after his return from serving during WWII. William preceded Shirley in death in 1973.

Shirley attended Waterloo East High School. Throughout her life Shirley worked as a cook in the food services and restaurant business until retiring in 1985.

Survived by: Jack Beard her brother; five children, Dan Merry (Janet) of Des Moines; Diane Peters (David) of White Bear Lake; Randy Merry (Peggy) of Rochester; Karen Seko (Stephan) of Downers Grove; and Sharon Geltz of Cedar Falls. She has 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

Preceded in death by: her husband William; parents Cecil & Mabel Beard; one sister, Beverly; and five brothers; LaVerne, Clarence, Duane, Richard, and Gary.

Services: 11AM Saturday, June 8, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with visitation from 10AM until the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa where Shirley will be buried alongside her husband.
