Shirley was a loving and caring person. Though she did not have children of her own, she cared for those about her, whether they were a young person in the community or a an older person in need of an advocate. Shirley and Bob were able to travel the world together. They enjoyed summers in Door County, Wisconsin and winters at St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.
Survivors include a foster sister, A. Louise Peters, of Independence, Iowa, and a brother-in-law, Marshall Berg, of North Carolina. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, February 26, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, with interment at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 3:00—5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof funeral home and one hour before the service at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
