Scott Allen Vognsen, 69, of Parkersburg, passed away at UnityPoint Health/Allen Hospital on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born in Cedar Falls on October 4, 1956, son of Christen and Eleanor (Cary) Vognsen, Jr. Scott attended Cedar Falls High School, where he was kicker on the football team and wrestled at 145 pounds, graduating with the Class of 1976. He, then, attended Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids. Scott worked a variety of jobs through the years including landscaping, construction, cooking and, spent the most time, as a machinist with Janesville Tool & Manufacturing.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Steve (Jo Ann) Vognsen. He is survived by his brother, Bill (Linda) Vognsen of Cedar Falls; nieces, Stephanie (Phil) Gonnerman and Jodi (Dave) Fisher both of Cedar Falls; nephews, Tom (Joan Hinners) Boyd and Dena (Mark) McCabe; great-nieces/nephews: Madison Gonnerman, Drew Fisher, Megan Gonnerman, Jacob Fisher and Carter Fisher; and many beloved cousins and extended family members.

Scott’s family will Celebrate his Life with a Memorial Visitation from 4-6:00 pm on Thursday, June 25th, 2026 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. He will be inurned at Greenwood Cemetery of Cedar Falls in a private family committal service. Memorials may be directed to the Family for future designation.

Scott was always willing to help out with handyman projects. He was a quiet man who tended to keep to himself, however, he enjoyed family gatherings, especially at the holidays. Scott’s family would like to extend a special note of thanks to Eric Anson who went above and beyond as a caring neighbor helping to ensure Scott’s welfare.
