Scott Robert Sweet, 62, Cedar Falls, died June 23, 2026 at MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center.
Scott was born August 31, 1963 in Waterloo to the late William and Cleone (Bean) Sweet. He is a 1982 graduate of Cedar Falls High School. He married the love of his life, Trudy Kratz, on June 9, 1990 at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Scott was disabled in 2020 due to a work-related accident after 30 years of employment with Crystal Distribution Services.
Scott’s love of sports started early, leading to try outs for the Waterloo Indians and coaching Zach’s flag football teams. He loved family time and cheering on his all-time favs the Washington Redskins and Boston Red Sox. He lived with a fishing pole in one hand, a baseball card in the other, and a prank or 2 up his sleeve.
After Scott’s accident in 2020 he was brought closer to God. Instead of why me and turning away in anger he embraced the gift of his life spared. This brought him to a strong faith in God that had not been seen from him before. He never missed his daily devotional. Even witnessing to others on the power of prayer. As devastated as We are, we do find comfort knowing he is now pain free and resting in the arms of Jesus.
Scott was always good at keeping in touch with several older coworkers. Checking in regularly with a phone call, grabbing breakfast or lunch. Stopping by with a bag of frozen tenderloins or a wonder roast chicken.
His last gift was a gift of hope, a gift of life through Iowa Donor Network. Please cherish your loved ones and friends as you never know what the day will bring.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Trudy; son, Zach (Carly Ekstrom) Sweet; siblings, Sherri Rogers and Jim Sweet; brother-in-law, Jeff Kratz; close family friend, Angie Miller (Loid); and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, William; mother, Cleone; step-father, Joe Adams; brothers, Michael Hayes and Don Sweet; and brother-in-law, Rodney Kratz.
