Scott Ross Blackburn, 82, of Cedar Falls passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of Waterloo. He was born in Cedar Falls on July 9, 1940, son of Ross and Beatrice (Thompson) Blackburn. Scott graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1959. He married Sheryl Lee (Granger) Wetzel on April 15, 1970, in Waterloo. Scott worked for Viking Pump, owned and operated Blackburn Carpeting, then worked on the Maintenance team at UNI before retiring June 27, 2002.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 30 years, Sheryl; and a grandson, Jeremy Richardson. He is survived by his children: Vicki (John) Bandfield of Dinsdale, Kolene (Mike) Acheson of Cedar Rapids, Andrea (Shane Miller) Hansen of Cedar Falls, Lori (Mike) Cain of New Hartford, Wendy (Dean) Richardson of Evansdale, Bryant (Michele) Wetzel of Cedar Falls, Brenda (Doug) Johnston of Hudson and Timothy Blackburn of Cedar Falls; 16 grandchildren: Shane Wetzel, Trisha Bandfield, Jennifer Clark, Kyle Acheson, Destiny Dietrick, Ashley Henry, Megan Hansen, Lindsay Burman, Garrett Moses, Courtney Richardson, Amber Loy, Zachary Shields, Cole Wetzel, Cameron Wetzel, Brooke Lenth and Austin Blackburn; 32 great-grandchildren; and his brother, John (Carma) Blackburn of Fountain Hills, Arizona.
Scott's Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, April 24, 2023, with Visitation from 3-5:00 pm on Sunday both at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. Burial to follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery of Cedar Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice towards a Memorial Brick and condolences can be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
Scott enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a fan of old movies, especially Sherlock Holmes, a Christmas Carol and Westerns starring John Wayne, best enjoyed with a Miller Lite. Scott loved his candy and, above all else, he loved his family. He will be deeply missed.
