Ruth Timmer

RUTH TIMMER was born December 5, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Jennie (Grarup) Vognsen. She married Sander Timmer on September 6, 1941 at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ruth was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a nurse's aide at Sartori Memorial Hospital for over 15 years. She also volunteered with the Black Hawk County Senior Companion Program. Ruth died Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at her home in Cedar Falls, at 80 years of age.

Survivors include Roger and Barb Timmer of Cedar Falls, and Vicki Bravender of Boca Raton, Florida; four grandchildren, Kristi and Staci Bravender, both of Boca Raton, Florida, and Angie Schmidt and Randy Timmer, both of Waverly, Iowa; a great-grandson, Jamie Schmidt of Waverly; three brothers, Chris Vognsen, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Lester and Letty Vognsen of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and George and Pat Vognsen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and two sisters, Helen Hahn of Cedar Falls, and Myrna and Kenny Hahn of Columbus, Georgia.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and a son, Harry Timmer.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2002, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  A memorial fund will be established.
