Ruth Van Syoc, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Windhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Falls. She was born September 22, 1928 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the daughter of Marvin and Grace (Sexton) Price. Ruth graduated from Brandon High School in 1946. She owned and operated the Treasurer Chest in Cedar Falls for many years and retired in 1995. Ruth married Larry R. Van Syoc in Waterloo and he preceded her in death December 13, 1988. She is survived by three sons; David (Peggy) Van Syoc, of Clear Lake, Iowa, Dan (Terry) Van Syoc, of Springboro, Ohio and Tom (Dianne) Van Syoc, of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Becky (Dan) Corbin, and Barbara (Gary) Woods, both of Cedar Falls; sixteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and one sister, Jean Stoakes, of Kerrville, Texas. Ruth was preceded in death by her parent, husband, and one sister, Eva Ludden. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Prairie Lakes Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
