RUTH L. STEWARD, 85, of Mason City and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. She was born June 4, 1920 in Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Cato R. and Rosabelle (Beachler) Kennicott. She married Russell K. Steward on June 16, 1946 in Independence, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1996. Ruth graduated from Independence High School in 1937 and worked for the Ration Board during WW II. Later, she was the secretary to the President of Bremer Packing in Waverly, Iowa. Ruth then attended nursing school and worked at the Cedar Falls Western Home until her retirement. She enjoyed to travel and will be missed on future road trips. She is survived by her two sons, Roger and Ronald Steward, both of Mason City; three grandchildren, Chad Steward of Phoenix, Arizona, Renee (Chad) Weaver of Mason City and Chris (Bayne) Steward of Phoenix; four great-grandchildren, Cambay, Spencer, Samantha and Joey; and a brother, Jim Kennicott of Jesup, Iowa. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Bob and Don Kennicott.

Funeral services were  Monday, March 20, 2006 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.  A memorial fund will be established.
