Ruth Smith

Ruth Smith, 85, of Waterloo, formerly of Waverly and Evansdale, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Manor Care in Waterloo.  Ruth was born November 5, 1925, at Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob & Lizzie (Siems) Folkers.  She married Clarence W. Smith July 13, 1951, at Nashua, Iowa.  He preceded her in death February 2, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Randy) Marvets, of Evansdale and Dianna; two sons, Allen (Claudia) Smith, of Dumfries, Virginia and Clarence Smith, Jr., of Oelwein, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and one brother, Richard (Delores) Folkers, of Cedar Falls.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband, four brothers, Fred, Ben, Raymond and Jake Folkers, and two sister, Gertrude Van Lengen and Sena Adelmund.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and for one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home.  A memorial fund will be established.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
