Ruth E. Rohm

Ruth E. Rohm, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls. She was born May 29, 1923 in Williams, Iowa, the daughter of Jake and Nora Anderson. Ruth married Marvin Rohm on July 31, 1948 in Lake Mills, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Ruth was a teacher in a one room school house and then taught Elementary School in Cedar Falls for many years. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Rohm, of Cedar Falls; a son, Eric (Tina) Rohm, of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Kathleen Rohm of House Springs, Missouri and Nikki Rohm of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Gabriel. Services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Western Home Communities Chapel, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be one hour before service at the Western Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for a teaching scholarship at UNI in memory of Ruth Rohm. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
