Ruth M. Downs

Ruth M. Downs, 89, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center. She was born December 3, 1926 in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Elsie (Goodnow) Scheidecker. Ruth married Paul Downs on January 30, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2013. Ruth was a nurse's aide in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Downs and Bill (Anne) Downs, both of Waterloo; a daughter, Pauline (Roger) Reincke, of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren\, Jennifer Omodt, Jeff (Emily) Downs, Billy Downs, Ryan Downs, Sarah (Jeremy) Armstrong, Katie (Ben Morales) Schoepske, Eric Schoepske, Patty (Bobby) Bowers, Chad, and Robert Reincke, and 14 great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Don and Raymond Scheidecker.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
