Ruth A Call

Ruth A. Call, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.  She was born December 21, 1920 in Dike, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Dagmar (Slifsgard) Johnson.  Ruth married Gilbert L. Call on May 5, 1944 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.  She was employed at Bell Telephone Company from 1937-1951.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Call, of Cedar Falls; a son, Lauren (Linda) Call, of Waterloo; three grandchildren, David (Kari) Pierschbacher of Earlville, Iowa, Jason Pierschbacher of Clarksville, Tennessee and Jay (Kristy) Lowenberg of Kalona, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Megan and Ben Pierschbacher, and Gibson and Brock Lowenberg, and two sisters, Helen Kluesner and Hazel Haan, both of Cedar Falls.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Arnold, Melvin, Roy, Roger and Vernon Johnson, and a sister, Hildred Wilson.

Services will be 10:00 am Monday, December 28, 2009, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 1—3:00 pm Sunday, December 27, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com
