Russell L. Kidder, 93, of Maquoketa, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Crestridge Nursing Home. He was born May 27, 1919 at Varina, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Irene (Titus) Kidder. Russell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He married Hazel Putnam April 18, 1939 in Newell, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1996. Russell worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1974. He is survived by two sons, Terry Kidder, of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Merlyn Kidder, of Prescott Valley, Arizona; one daughter, Cheryl Penne Meyers, of Newport Beach, California; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Merle Phillips, of Wheaton, Illinois and Yvonne Waller, of Cedar Falls. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four infant sons, three brothers, and five sisters. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Military rites be held at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
