ROY J.
MARTIN, was born September 17, 1917 the son Ray E. and Minnie C. (Horstman) Martin at Dike, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Rassmussen June 28, 1940 at Newton, Iowa. She preceded him in death March 21, 1988. He married Milly Colvin August 15, 1994 at Las Vegas, Nevada. Roy founded Martin Brothers Fine Foods & Provisions on March 1, 1940 with his brother Glen joining as a co-founder in December. Roy retired June 30, 2000. He died Wednesday January 1, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his wife, Milly, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Patricia Rae Martin, Mary Jane (Kim) Rhoades and Glenda L. (John) Davis; one son, John Roy (Claudia) Martin all of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three step-sons, Mark S. (Mollie) Colvin of Granbury, Texas, Jeffery M. Colvin and Bradley Colvin both of Waterloo, Iowa; three step-daughters, Debra J. Niichel of Donellson, Iowa, Lisa R. Colvin of West Liberty, Iowa and Tara S. (Craig) Lehman of Davenport, Iowa; nine grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three step-great-granddaughters and a brother, Glen (Libby) Martin of Sun City West, Arizona. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Elizabeth.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2003 at First United Methodist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established.
