Rosemary Matthias

Rosemary F. Matthias, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Rosemary was born July 28, 1929 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Paul & Thelma (Lawrence) Lilly. She married Melvin Matthias June 6, 1953 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death September 3, 2003. Rosemary was employed at Hawkeye Corrugated Box Company for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Gary) Cole, of Waterloo and Diane (Eric) Jensvold, of Nevada, Iowa; three grandchildren, Josh (Lynn) Cole, Heather (Omar) Aleman and Heidi Jensvold; two great grandchildren, Evie Isabella Cole and Alex Aleman; two brothers, John (Vera) Lilly, of Cedar Falls and Joseph (Minni) Lilly, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and a sister, Bernadine Woods, of Cedar Falls. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a sister, Margaret Tharp; and a brother, Tom Lilly. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to Eastern Iowa Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
