Rosemary K. Hanson

Rosemary K. Hanson, 86, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Duncombe, Iowa, died Friday, June 30, 2017, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.  She was born February 4, 1931 on the farm near Duncombe, the daughter of George and Sylvia (Presler) Koestner.  Rosemary married Wayne Hanson on April 15, 1951 in Thor, Iowa.  She was a 1949 graduate of Ft. Dodge High School and attended Ft. Dodge Community College (Iowa Central Community College).  Rosemary was a member of the Women of the Lutheran Church, 4-H, and enjoyed quilting with women of her church.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Hanson, of Cedar Falls; her son, Rev. Dennis (Dorothea) Hanson, of Cedar Falls; her two daughters, Joan (Gary) Lore of Nashua, Iowa and Kathy (Marlin) Geisler of Gowrie, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald (Virginia) Koestner, and a sister, Mavis (Robert) Moenck.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at NewAldaya Lifescapes Good Shepherd Chapel in Cedar Falls, with burial 2:30 p.m. Friday at Colfax Township Cemetery near Vincent, Iowa.  The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:30 pm at the Duncombe Community Center following the committal service.
