Rollin Knapp, 65, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. He was born March 24, 1947 in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth and Oda (Mikkelsen) Knapp. Rollin was a 1965 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. He was an accomplished local artist whose works are in the Waterloo Center for the Arts, the Hearst Center for the Arts in Cedar Falls, and private collections. His work was the subject of several video productions and featured in the Iowan magazine. Survivors include his brother, Gene (Debbie) Knapp, of Keokuk, Iowa; two nieces, Ashley (Travis) Brandenberger-Knapp and Alexis Knapp, both of Keokuk; many cousins, including Terry (Colleen) Knapp of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kyle Knapp of Santa Monica, Califonia and David Knapp of Cedar Falls; his step mother, Gloria Freilinger, of Viroqua, Wisconsin; two step sisters, Lorain Hanson of Sparta, Wisconsin and Linda (Joe) Christiano of Wichita, Kansas; two step brothers, George (Deanna) Hanson of Andover, Kansas and Howard (Karen) Hanson of Tillamook, Oregon, and his close friend of many years, Beverly Hyke, of Waterloo. Rollin was preceded in death by his parents. A gathering of family and friends will be 1:303:00 pm Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the Cedar Falls Woman's Club, with private inurnment at Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Waterloo Center for the Arts. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
