ROLLIN "ROLLIE" G. EVERS was born March 24, 1925 in Arcadia, Iowa, the son of Grover William and Laura Elizabeth (Bruggeman) Evers. He married Cleone Stienkamp on June 17, 1947 in Arcadia. Rollie served with the U. S. Army in the European Theatre during WW II. He fought in many battles including the Battle of the Bulge. Rollie was a patrolman for four years with the Iowa State Patrol, a deputy sheriff with Boone County, Iowa for five years, served for a term as the Boone County Sheriff and was the first Public Safety Director for the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1987. He died Saturday, February 2, 2002 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa at 76 years of age.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Cleone Evers of Cedar Falls; two sons, Mark Evers and his wife Carol of Mason City, Iowa and Doug Evers and his wife Jill of Kokomo, Indiana; a daughter, Renee Evers of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Elisa Anne Evers, Jay Douglas Evers, Jeffrey Paul Evers, Ryan Grover Evers, Nathan William Evers and Kristen Renee Evers; a brother, Kenneth Evers and his wife Dolores of Dubuque, Iowa and a special companion, his dog Anna Marie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established.
