Roger Williams

Roger Williams, 83, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, Des Moines and Ottumwa, died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was born February 9, 1933, the son of Charles and Esther (Hoogenakker) Williams in Des Moines, Iowa. Roger married Shirley Reese December 5, 1952 in Des Moines. She preceded him in death August 19, 2010. He married Norma R. Kleinheksel October 17, 2014 in Cedar Falls. Roger was a volunteer of Habitat for Humanity, and an active member of Lions and Rotary Clubs in Waterloo, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and many other organizations. He also served as a supervisor in Wapello County from 1991 to 1994. Before his retirement in 1990, he was a manager of U S West Telephone Company.

Roger is survived by his wife Norma Williams, of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathy (Craig) Goehrig, of Waterloo and Marna (Tom) Onnen, of Valencia, California; five grandchildren; Kelly (Brian) Deimerly, Kacey (Joel) Ball, Melissa (Ryan) Chaddick, Michael (Sophya Lim) Onnen, and Melanie Onnen, and four great grandchildren, and one brother, Chad (Karen) Williams, of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Shirley Williams.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 3—7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
