Roger Bucholtz

Roger William Bucholtz, 94, of Hudson, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center. Roger was born July 17, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of William & Clair (Grimm) Bucholtz. He was raised in the Iowa Soldiers Orphans Home in Davenport. Roger married Laura Bixby December 17, 1944 in Waterloo. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1940 and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII. Roger was employed for 23 years at John Deere and Company in the Time Study & Methods Dept., retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Bucholtz, of Hudson; his daughter, Jody (Keith) Bauer, of Hudson; three grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Halstead of Ankeny, Iowa, Scott (Kate) Bauer of Newton, Iowa and Jason (Sara) Bauer of West Des Moines, Iowa, and nine great grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence Bucholtz and Virginia Sharp.

Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with interment in Hudson Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Tuesday, May 17, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
