Roberta L Ove

Roberta L. May Ove, 90, of Cedar Falls, passed peacefully on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.  She was born May 1, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James and Augusta (Madsen) Petersen.  Roberta married Bernhard N. Ove on November 25, 1945 at Fredsville Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls.  He preceded her in death on January 9, 1997.  Roberta was a 1938 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was employed at John Deere during WW II.  Later, she worked in food service for Cedar Falls Community School District at North Cedar Elementary School, retiring in 1982 after seventeen years of loyal service.  Roberta was a seventy year member of the Dike American Legion Auxiliary, where she was past District President.  She enjoyed reading, embroidery, bird watching and writing to her friends.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Sheila) Ove, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; three daughters, Jo Anne Ove of Cedar Falls, Janet (Mike) Wanegar of Peoria, Arizona and Karen (Juan) Moreno of Kent, Connecticut; nine grandchildren, Joyce, James, Becky, Angie, Gina, Ashley, Juán Sebastian, Dan and Kate; ten great grandchildren, Zachary, Brodie, Madison, Joshua, Autum, Bailee, Brayden, Michael, Lucas and Marley; a sister, Evelyn (Warren) Sheard, of Palm Harbor, Florida, and a brother, Holger (Marilyn) Petersen, of Cedar Falls.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and husband, an infant brother, Carl Petersen, and a sister, Clara Lueken.

Services will be 10:30 am Friday, October 29, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 5—8:00 pm Thursday, October 28, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Bible Church, or Cedar Valley Hospice.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
