Robert Sorenson

Robert Eugene Sorenson, 81, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born June 2, 1932 in Cedar Falls, the son of Paul and Frances (Mathes) Sorenson. Robert married Dorothy Dreager on June 29, 1958 in St. Ansgar, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1998. He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and Northwestern College of Chiropractic in St. Paul, Minnesota. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and worked for Peterman & Haes Floorcovering Inc. in Waterloo for over thirty years. Survivors include two sons, Mark (Beth) Sorenson of Irving, Texas and Fred (Sheila) Sorenson of Litchfield Park, Arizona; a daughter, Gretchen Harvey, of Folsom, California; five grandchildren, Zackary, Joshua, Sean, Erik and Tristan, and three brothers, Paul (Diane) Sorenson of Cedar Falls, Richard (Jeanie) Sorensen of St. Helens, Oregon and Erik (Joanie) Sorensen of Idaho. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, John Sorenson. A gathering of family and friends will be 10:00 a.m.1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at Robert's home, 1309 Clay St., in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
