ROBERT CHARLES SKAR, 83, of Billerica, Massachusetts, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, in Burlington, Massachusetts. He was born July 30, 1921 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the son of Robert Olaf and Clara E. (Hogenson) Skar. Robert married Margaret H. Hansen on May 25, 1946 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She died December 11, 1973. He married Nora Osborne in 1975. She died in 1998. After graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 1939, Robert entered Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and attended from 1939-1942.   He served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946.  Robert returned to UNI in 1946 and received his bachelor's degree in 1947.  He attended Iowa State University for post-graduate studies from 1947-1951. Robert was an electrical engineer at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 1951-1970.  He enjoyed singing in his church choir and was formerly a member of the Cedar Rapids Cantata Singers.

Survivors include three sons, Paul R. Skar and his wife Nancy, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, John R. Skar and his wife Alison, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts and Peter C. Skar of Roselle, Illinois; one daughter, Patricia C. Skar and her fiancé, Alexis FitzGerald, of Oxford, England; and three grandchildren, Erik Skar and his wife Renata of Holyoke, Massachusetts, Rolf Skar of Portland, Oregon and Siri Skar of Kathmandu, Nepal.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents and both wives.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.  Memorials may be directed to Little City Foundation, 1760 West Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL  60067.
