Robert Parker

Robert Parker, 82, died Friday, November 2, 2007, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born June 10, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of William L. and Melba (Goff) Parker. Bob married Eleanor A. Herr July 1, 1956, in Sigourney, Iowa. He entered the U.S. Navy June 10, 1943. Bob was in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines, on the ship USS St. Lo. He received the rank of Chief Yeoman and retired in November of 1963. He then worked for Iowa Supply Company for 22 years, A.Y. McDonald for six years, and then for Heating and Cooling three years, retiring in 1993. Bob was a past president of Beaver Hills Country Club and was an avid golfer. He loved the Cubs and the Iowa Hawks.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, at the Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be Monday, November 5, from 4—7:00 p.m. at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 will conduct military services at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, and the Cedar Falls Community School Foundation.
