Robert LeRoy Mishler, 85, of Oelwein and formerly of Waterloo died Friday, August 4, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. Robert was born March 17, 1921 in Oelwein, Iowa the son of James & Anna (Dau) Mishler. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On May 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Chaplin. They later divorced. He married Ruth Gleason August 30, 1963. She preceded him in death March 1, 1999. Robert was employed at John Deere & Company for 30 years retiring in 1975.Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Arlyn) Harberts of Cedar Falls; his daughter in law, Linda Mishler of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Annette (Scot) Pownell, Bryan (Kristi) Shannon, Mike (Kayleen) Mishler, Michelle (Jeff) Gerstenkorn, Jason (Tania) Mishler, and DeAnna (Jim) Deemer; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Doris and Dorothy Mishler, both of Wisconsin, and a special friend, Helen Berry of Oelwein. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and his son, Robert Mishler.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Waterloo at a later date. A memorial fund will be established.
