ROBERT "BOB" ALLEN
MERTENS,
58, of Waterloo died Thursday, November 25, 2004 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa of natural causes. He was born November 26, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Otto H. & Dorsa (Ogles) Mertens. He graduated from Reinbeck High School and attended Universal Trade School. He married Sharon Eiffler and they were later divorced. Bob was a cabinet assembler at Bertch Cabinet for the last seven years.
Survivors include one stepson, Todd Heithoff of Phoenix, Arizona; three stepdaughters, Theresa Heithoff of Glendale, Arizona, Kim (Todd Amling) Heithoff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kara (Todd) Fleming of New Providence, Iowa; five grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry (Jan) Mertens of Forsyth, Missouri and Brad (LaVeda) Mertens of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and one sister, Nancy Roberts of Woodbury, Minnesota. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2004 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery, Reinbeck, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
