ROBERT JAMES
LEY
was born June 13, 1918 at Swea City, Iowa, the son of John J. and Kathryn (Craig) Ley. He married Lois M. Hoch on June 2, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Robert owned and operated Bob Ley's Automotive Repair in Cedar Falls for 30 years. He was a handyman who enjoyed rebuilding cars, as well as remodeling and working around his home. Robert died Saturday, October 9, 1999, at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 81 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Lois, of Cedar Falls; his two daughters, Susan Ley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Pat Burroughs of Guttenberg, Iowa; three grandchildren, Steve and Brian Burroughs, and Jenny Hughes; and two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Arlen Burroughs.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence Otero and Helen Ley; and two brothers, Howard and Vernon Ley.
Memorial services were 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 1999, at the funeral home, with inurnment at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
