Robert "Bob" L. Kindig, 89, of Nevis, Minnesota, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas. Robert was born June 15, 1923, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Louis & Sarah (Fetzer) Kindig. He married Theresa Loos April 14, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he received a Purple Heart, and taught history and government in Cedar Falls Community School District for over 33 years, retiring in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Kindig, of Nevis, Minnesota; a son, Bruce (Connie) Kindig, of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter, Valerie (David) Heisterkamp, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Kindig; and a sister, Wilma Lippert. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church.
