Robert "Bob" Fruchtenicht

Robert "Bob" Fruchtenicht, 81, of Hudson, Iowa, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services in Waterloo. He was born December 22, 1930 in Cedar Falls, the son of Will and Esther (Thierman) Fruchtenicht. Bob was a graduate of Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a farmer for over fifty years and was a member of Hudson AMVETS Post 82. Survivors include his brother, Harry Fruchtenicht, and his sister, Mary (Vernon) Cordes, both of Cedar Falls; six nephews, Jerry (Teri) Fruchtenicht of Cedar Falls, Jeff Fruchtenicht of Independence, Iowa, Rodney (Delaine) Cordes of Cedar Falls, Steven (Pam) Cordes of Westminster, Colorado, Daniel Cordes of Cedar Falls and Jack Haes of Waterloo; two nieces, Joni Claussen and Jill Fruchtenicht, both of Cedar Falls, and many grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and great grandnephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Julie Haes. Services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82. Visitation will be 47:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
