ROBERT BYRNES,
54, of Cedar Falls died Friday, May 28, 2004 at Sartori Memorial Hospital. He was born July 20, 1949 in Osage, Iowa the son of Erwin Bernard & JoAnne (Yager) Byrnes. He received his bachelor's from UNI in 1971 and began teaching at UNI in 1972. In 1974 he received his master's in Music. Bob worked in administration in the School of Music, was the campus carilloneur and the director of the UNI Men's Varsity Glee Club.
Survivors include his mother, JoAnne Byrnes of Osage, Iowa; three brothers, James Byrnes of Pacific Beach, California, Mark (Candace) Byrnes of Oceanside, California, Casey Joseph Byrnes of Oakland, California; four sisters, Mary Catherine Byrnes of Buhl, Idaho, Patricia Jo Byrnes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Janet Marie (David) Wright of Dubuque, Iowa, and Jill Caroline (Kevin) Byrnes-Lange of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Les Hale Endowment Fund at the UNI Foundation.
