Robert James Bolte

Robert James Bolte, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.  He was born April 28, 1935 in Cedar Falls, the son of John and Fern (Aikey) Bolte.  Robert married Beverly M. Kuker on August 15, 1959 at Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, Iowa.  He was a 1953 graduate of Janesville Consolidated School.  Bob served in USARNG from 1953 to 1956 when he was recalled to Active Duty and served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S Tarawa, CVS-40 until Dec of 1957. He was discharged with Honorable service. Bob worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1997. He later worked for Velocity Express for three years.   Bob volunteered for both Habitat for Humanity and Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. Bob always loved working on cars, fishing, hunting and being outside, if he had his way he would have never left the farm. He loved to woodwork and tinker in the garage making toys for grandkids. Bob and Bev kept a neat and beautiful home and yard and enjoyed working together in the yard. Bob loved and worshipped the Triune God through Faith in Jesus Christ, he and Bev attended College Hill Lutheran Church, where they were busy serving the Lord in many ways.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverly Bolte, of Cedar Falls; two sons, David (Roxanne) Bolte of Litchfield Park, Arizona and Dennis (Kim) Bolte of Milford, Kansas; five grandchildren, Steven Bolte, Elizabeth (Dan) Paulson, and Kristen, Taryn and Justin Bolte; a great grandson, Finn Paulson, and his brother, John (Marion) Bolte, of Coupeville, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Shere.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at a later date at Washington Chapel Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the church or the family.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
