Robert “Bob” Mikeska, 89, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.
Bob was born in Chicago, IL, on February 2, 1937, the son of John and Beatrice (Bush) Mikeska. He grew up in the Chicago area but relocated to Minneapolis, MN, following the birth of his first child. One of Bob’s first jobs was an exterior window washer at the Foshay Tower, known at that time as the tallest building in Minneapolis. He then had a 31-year career in machine maintenance with Special Parts, Inc., retiring in 2000.
At a Knights of Columbus Christmas party, Bob met his future wife, Judy (Soltis) Larson. On December 1, 1979, Bob and Judy were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built their first home in Oak Grove, MN, as well as remodeling homes on Green Lake and Menard Lake in Minnesota. They relocated to Waterloo in 2008 and have been members of Ascension Lutheran Church since 2010.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his early years, he had a taxidermy business on the side.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Mikeska of Cedar Falls; daughters, Marlinda Rundle of Blaine, MN, Dorane Mikeska of Fridley, MN, and Tammy Reynolds of Franklin, NC; step-son, Jeffrey (Sherri) Larson of Wimauma, FL; grandchildren, Ryan Rundle, Robert Thern, and Ashley Morris; step-grandchildren, Paige Larson and Tori (Larson) Strub; great-grandchildren, Jaycie, Riley, Damian, Lily and Piper Rundle, and Gavin, Sophia and Everette Morris; step-great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ember Strub; sister-in-law, Lori Mikeska; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, John “Jack” and Gilbert Mikeska; sister, Eleanor TeGantvort; and daughter, Tina Thern.
There are no services scheduled at this time. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s memorial may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church Youth Programs (www.ascensionwaterloo.com). Please visit www.dahlfuneralhome.com to share condolences with the family.
