Richard "Rich" Peter Bruhn, 87, Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Rich was born October 13, 1934 in Springvale, IA to the late Peter and Clara (Nielsen) Bruhn.  Following his graduation from Cedar Falls High School he married his high school sweetheart, Viola Handrup, on June 26, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  The couple was blessed with three children: Kenneth, William and Sherry.  Rich worked on the assembly line at John Deere for 28 years before retirement and enjoyed his passion for building throughout his life with projects around his home and his children's homes.

Rich was a man who dearly loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them.  For many years he went on fishing and camping trips to northern Minnesota and into Canada.  Rich and Viola purchased a Winnebago that took them from Florida to California and all places in between.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Viola; children, Kenneth of Cedar Falls, William (Marce) of Nevada and Sherry Heidenreich of Davis, IL; grandson, Matthew Bruhn; sister-in-law, Natalie Morgan and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jerry Heidenreich; sister, Virginia (Paul) Siedenburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Elsie Handrup; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hugo (Barb) Handrup, Cordel (Phil) Kofren and Rex Morgan; 2 nieces and a nephew.

A private service for Rich will be held and burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Cerebral Palsy.
