RICHARD BRYNOLF LAWRENCE,
81, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. Richard was born October 31, 1922 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Brynolf and Lily (Stone) Lawrence. He married Helen White on November 21, 1947 in Evanston. Richard was a graduate of Evanston High School and Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He served with U. S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. Richard was a painting contractor in Evanston for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He and his wife Helen moved to Cedar Falls to be close to their daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Chris (Randy) Graf of Wilmette, Illinois, Heather (Scott) Lawrence-Richards of Cedar Falls and Sharon (John) Lee of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren and a sister, Catherine Detweiler of Gainesville, Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ellen Trumbull.
Private family-directed committal services will be at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Communities.
