Richard E. Junker

Richard E. Junker, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Bickford Cottage in Cedar Falls. He was born February 3, 1928 near Parkersburg, Iowa, the son of Edd and Henrietta (Wessels) Junker. Richard married Kathryn Thiesen on January 14, 1947 in Cedar Falls. He worked for John Deere & Company in Waterloo for 38 years, retiring in 1985. Richard was born again September 1, 1946 while reading Romans 5:6. He lived his life telling others about the Savior.

Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathryn Junker, of Cedar Falls; his two daughters, Barbara Kay (Barton) Elliott of Mt. Holly, North Carolina and Brenda Sue Dyck of Austin, Manitoba, Canada; his son, LeRoy (Debra) Junker, of Centralia, Washington; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tracy) Elliott, Bryce (Denise) Elliott, Bridget (Trent) Groothuis, Caroline (Zach) King, Jonathan (Melissa) Junker, Brenton Dyck and Jenny Lyn (William) Cartier; 18 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy, Edgar Junker, and a grandson in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—8:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the Gospel Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
