Rex Edwin DeLavergne, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born April 30, 1927 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Ward H. and Ruby (Hill) DeLavergne. Rex married Norma Oberheu on June 6, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, from 1945-1947. Rex was a purchasing agent for Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, where he was past president of the congregation. Rex also served as an executive director of Christian Crusaders. He is survived by his wife, Norma DeLavergne, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sandra (Perry) Schroeder of Garner, Iowa and Sharon (Gene) Drachenberg of Dike, Iowa; a son, John (Rose) DeLavergne, of Boone, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Rex was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church on Saturday.
