Raymond "Pood" Hansen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veteran passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the age of 80, in Dubuque, IA.
He was born on September 5, 1944 in Cedar Falls, son to Iris and Leonard Hansen. Raymond grew up in Cedar Falls and attended Cedar Falls High School, class of 1963, where he created lifelong friendships. He lived a life filled with love, strength, and dedication to his family.
He married his devoted wife of 56 years, Diane Benzine, on January 12, 1969. Together, they shared memories that spanned over half a century. They loved to travel together. Together they had two children Tracy and Richard "Rick". Raymond was incredibly proud of his family, and he cherished the life they created together.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Raymond served with honor and distinction, earning the respect of his fellow soldiers. Upon returning home, Raymond focused on building a life centered around family, and hard work. He dedicated 32 years to Viking Pump, retiring in 2002.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Diane Hansen; his two children, Tracy (Todd) Wiedenman and Richard (Stephanie) Hansen; his seven cherished granddaughters, Alissa, Ashley, Madison, Amber, Morgan, Autumn, and Megan; and his three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Nora, and Ivy Ray, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Gary) Heidemann, and his sister-in-law, Mary (Steve) Tomkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris and Leonard Hansen, and his brother, Rex Hansen.
Raymond's funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 14 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home; resuming at 9:00 AM on Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Janesville.
Raymond will be deeply missed but forever loved and remembered by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
