Raymond Devries

Raymond L. DeVries, 88, of Cedar Falls, formerly of New Hartford, Iowa and Salida, Colorado, died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Windsor Specialty Care in Cedar Falls. He was born July 4, 1927 in New Hartford, the son of Lucas and Rena (Hulzebos) DeVries. Raymond married Margyne M. Wersinger on June 3, 1990. He graduated from New Hartford High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Raymond worked at John Deere & Company PEC in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in September of 1987, after 39 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Margyne DeVries, of Cedar Falls; three stepsons, Dan (Linda) Wersinger of Livingston, Illinois, Tom Wersinger of Blue Grass, Iowa and John Wersinger of Cedar Falls; three stepdaughters, Sue (David) Luck of Cedar Falls, Jean Lawrence of Waterloo and Ann (Scott) Frascht of Laurens, Iowa; 11 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren; his sister, Velda (Richard) Pitsenbarger, of Dike, Iowa and two nieces.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford. Visitation will be 3—6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice.
