Ralph James Ulrich, 69, of Cedar Falls, died of a heart attack on Saturday, February 14, 2009, in McAllen, Texas. Ralph was born May 26, 1939 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Everett & Ethel (Blake) Ulrich. He married Agnes Kramer on February 4, 1967 in Waterloo. Ralph was a 1957 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served in the Iowa National Guard for eight years. He drove trucks and worked construction for many years, and was employed at John Deere & Company for thirteen years retiring in 1977. In 1977, he started Ralph Ulrich Sales & Service and in 1995 started Midwest Building, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Ulrich, of Cedar Falls; two sons, David (Dee) Ulrich and Dan (Linnea) Ulrich, both of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Matelyn, Marissa, Victoria, Joseph, and Nicole; and a sister, Virginia Rowe, of Lancaster, Wisconsin. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 am Friday, February 20, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. A memorial fund will be established in Ralph's name.
