Ralph M Houck

Ralph Merton Houck, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Bickford Cottage, Cedar Falls. He was born January 11, 1920, the son of William E. and Mabel (Wilber) Houck at Indianola, Iowa.  After graduation from Manly High School, Manly, Iowa, he moved to Riceville. Ralph married Anita C. Weber May 22, 1950 at Riceville. She preceded him in death August 19, 1992. He was a veteran of the World War II, serving in the United States Army. Ralph was employed with the Iowa State Patrol for 38 years, working in communications, retiring in December of 1985.

He is survived by his son, Joe (Joyce) Houck, of Waterloo; two grand daughters, Nicole Houck, of Coralville and Olivia Houck, of Iowa City; three step grandchildren, Jenna (Justin) Brown, of Indianola, Michael Staebell, of Cedar Falls and Laura (Michael) Steen, of Waterloo.

Ralph was preceded in death by parents, Wife, one granddaughter, Caitlin Houck; two brothers, William and Donald Houck, and two sisters, Jean Mc Kibben and Nina Tietz.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
