RACHEL P. TREICHEL was born June 12, 1905 on a farm near Badger, Iowa the daughter of Lars & Bertha (Suvde Braland) Ponsness. She taught for eight years in rural schools of Webster County then was a clerk for three years at John Deere & Company in Waterloo until her marriage to Emanuel Treichel on May 18, 1946 in Hillsdale, Kansas. Rachel died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 97 years.
Survivors include one step daughter, Faith Niedert, of Waterloo and one sister; Alice Kleckner, of Madisonville, Kentucky. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2003 at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church with burial in Waterloo Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the church.
