Racheal C Schmaltz

Racheal C. Schmaltz, 86, of Waverly, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.  She was born August 27, 1924 in River Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Ruby (Chinnock) Martin.  Racheal married John Schmaltz, Jr. on May 7, 1946 in Anamoose, North Dakota.  He preceded her in death on August 17, 1986.  Racheal graduated from River Falls, Wisconsin High School and attended school in Madison, Wisconsin.

Survivors include a son, Robin (Patricia) Schmaltz, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; six daughters, Jennifer Copley of Missoula, Montana, Melanie (Gary) Harmon of Stamford, Connecticut, Diana (Tom) Nowatzki of Shoreview, Minnesota, Candace (Michael) Bruns of Rushsylvania, Ohio, Mary Beth (Ed) Griffis of Orlando, Florida and Lesa (Les) Collum of Cedar Falls; seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Racheal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant sister, Sarah.

Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.  Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Time of Sharing will be conducted at 6:00 pm.  Visitation also one hour before service on Thursday.  Memorials may be directed to Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, Iowa or Cedar Valley Hospice.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
