Phyllis Nadine Aschenbrenner, 84, of Cedar Falls, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the LaPorte Specialty Care Center. She was born in Finchford, Iowa, on August 9, 1937, daughter of Orlow and Emma (Meinders) Webrand. Phyllis graduated from Northern University High School in 1954. On March 19, 1960, she married Frank Julian Crawford in Cedar Falls. To this union was born Scott, Jeri and Tim. Frank preceded her in death in 1971. On November 21, 1973, Phyllis married Richard Leroy Aschenbrenner in Cedar Falls. She worked a variety of jobs: hiring out to do laundry; as the first female driver for Wonder Bread; as cook for Hardees and Covenant Medical Center; and at EPI.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Crawford and Richard Aschenbrenner; and her brother, James Webrand. She is survived by her children: Scott (Sheri) Crawford of Waterloo, Jeri (Greg) Poell of Davenport and Tim (Brenda) Crawford of Cedar Falls; 8 grandchildren: Abby (Cory) Nation, Kelly (David) Bosarge, Cole Lamprecht, Jessica (Dustin Meier) Poell, Chris (Andrea) Poell, Phil (Lauren) Poell, Justin (Nicole) Crawford and Jacob Crawford; 9 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Orlow Webrand, Jr. of Cedar Falls.
Phyllis' Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2022, with an hour of visitation prior, both at First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery of Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the AMVETS Post 49 and condolences left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
Phyllis loved Yorkshire Terriers and her most recent furry friend, Sarge, was always by her side. She worked hard her entire life and bravely navigated the many twists and turns thrown her way. Above all else, Phyllis cherished being a grandmother and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
