Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Waterloo; four daughters, Maureen (Jim) Green of Columbia, Missouri, Kathryn Limes of London, Ohio, Janean (Kevin) Kolbet of Osage, Iowa and Patricia Bardole of Round Rock, Texas; a son, Robert P. (Elaine) Moore, of Hudson; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; and three sisters, Joan Plaehn of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Jane Mochal of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Marilyn Plaehn of Cedar Falls.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sue Hogshead.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 15, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Dike American Legion Post 471. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association.
