Penny Lee Thompson, 59, of Waterloo, passed away at home from natural causes on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born in Waterloo on January 1, 1965, daughter of Robert and Mary (Morris) Stokes. Penny graduated from Parkersburg High School with the Class of 1983 then attended Hawkeye Tech where she studied graphic arts. She married Craig Thompson on June 28, 2008, in LaPorte City. Penny was a talented artist, accomplished bowler and enthusiastic animal lover. She enjoyed travel (Hawaii was a favorite destination). Penny was a lifelong, die hard Green Bay Packers fan and proud partial team owner. She adored going to Lambeau Field with her family and friends for many games, braving heat, cold, rain or shine. Penny was a season-ticket holder for the Waterloo Black Hawks and enjoyed everything about it except the cowbell. She loved spare time spent boating, wakeboarding and skiing with her family and friends on East Lake and many trips to Table Rock Lake. Penny cherished all of her work family at the United States Postal Service and looked forward to making them all cookies for the holidays.

Penny was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Esther and Charlie Stokes; maternal grandparents, John & Olive Jane Morris; dad, Doyle Bausman; and brother, Howard Bausman. She is survived by her mother, Mary (Fred) Jackson; husband, Craig; son, Colin; daughters: Shantel, Latisha, Kayla and Emma; grandchildren: Charles, Harper and Jacee; brothers: Darin (Becky) Stokes, Bob (Joyce) Bausman and Jim (Marsha) Bausman; sister, Mary Jean Huisman; many beloved nieces and nephews including Brent, Parker and Piper Stokes; and her fur babies, Berkeley and Bella.
