Pauline "Polly" Mills

Polly Mills, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Affinity House, Waterloo. She was born January 16, 1930 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Aaron E. and Laura M. (Eisele) Stafford. She married Ralph Mills on August 3, 1952 in Carmel, California. He preceded her in death October 30, 1973. Polly graduated from New Hartford High School in 1948. She loved living on the farm and working with her flowers and gardens. She is survived by one son, Steve (Deneen) Mills, of Waterloo; three daughters, Sherry (Gene Averhoff) Mills of Dorchester, Iowa, Cindy Mills of Des Moines and Cathy (Dennis) Bouska of Altoona, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Cloyce Stafford, of Waterloo, and two sisters, Virginia Platt of Cedar Falls and Betty Kroblin of Waterloo. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Sam Mills, one brother, Everett Stafford, and one sister, Alta Hekel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bennington Township. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
