Paul Downs

Paul F. Downs, 92, of Waterloo, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center. He was born October 12, 1921 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of George and Ethyel (Bundy) Downs. Paul married Ruth Scheidecker on January 30, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa. Paul was a factory worker for many years, at both Oliver Tractor Manufacturing in Charles City, and Universal Industries in Cedar Falls, where he retired in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Downs, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Dennis Downs and Bill (Anne) Downs, both of Waterloo; a daughter, Pauline (Roger) Reincke, of Waterloo; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and two sisters, Georgian McCracken of Zephyr Hills , Florida and Grace Heddens of Charles City. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers-in-law. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
