Paul Leonard Britzman, 77, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was born May 15, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Ida (Gesell) Britzman. Paul married Sharon Jacobsen on August 2, 1959 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa. He was a graduate of East Waterloo High School and Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Paul served in the U.S. Navy and worked at John Deere & Company for thirty-five years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Cedar Falls Municipal Band for fifty years, and a member of the Iowa Military Veterans Band, the U.N.I. New Horizons Band and the Third Octave Band. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Britzman, of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Lisa (David Peck) Britzman, of Huon Valley, Tasmania, Australia; two sons, Brad (Nikki) Britzman of Waterloo and Mark (Loretta Powell) Britzman of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Sarah Acuff of Cedar Falls, Nicole Britzman of Anchorage, Alaska, Alison Britzman of Cedar Falls, Lillia and Katherine Britzman, both of Waterloo, and a great grandson, Houston Acuff, of Cedar Falls. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
