Paul Joseph Brietske, 65, of Cedar Falls, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at home on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born in Des Moines on January 8, 1958, son of Robert and Gayle (Hoyle) Brietske. Paul graduated from Central High School in Waterloo with the Class of 1976 and Hawkeye Technical College in 1979. On June 14, 1975, he was married to Nanci Le Behrens in Cedar Falls. Paul worked for Doerfer Engineering for 25 years helping to develop highly innovative equipment, then more recently in Product Development for John Deere at the PEC.
Paul was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Edwin Brietske. He is survived by Nanci, his wife of nearly 48 years; daughters: Shelly (John) Freet of Grundy Center, Cindy (David) Mitchell and Becky (Kelly) Foss both of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren: Dan, Tim, Taylor, Erin, Nadaley, Collin, Cooper, Sam, Jake, Jordan, Gabby and Jaxon; 2 great-grandchildren; his mother of Waterloo; brother, Daniel (Teresa) Brietske of Texas; 3 sisters, Jean Brietske of Cedar Falls, Trina Brietske of Des Moines and Brenda (Tim) Hemming of Minnesota.
Paul's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 31, 2023, with Visitation the evening prior from 5-7:00 pm, both at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Family and Condolences can be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
Paul loved being outdoors, especially hunting or fishing. He was also an avid racecar fan and he and Nanci were season ticket holders at the Newton Speedway. Paul enjoyed fireworks and was a member of the Iowa Pyrotechnics Association. He was a very funny guy who may have gotten even more so with each Busch Lite. Above all else, Paul cherished time with his dogs, daughters and grandchildren (some days in that order). He will be greatly missed!
