Pamela Kay Seyffer passed away on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at her home in Cedar Falls with her husband Dennis by her side after facing cancer with patience, grace, dignity and hope. She was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be so deeply missed. Pam was born August 2, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin, the first born child of John and Marcia Talley. She was followed by her beloved siblings Becky, John, Barb and Cindy. Pam graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1963, and attended the University of Northern Iowa. While a student at UNI, Pam met her future husband Dennis, and the young lovebirds got married in Preston, Minnesota in 1965. Their marriage remained strong and rewarding through the years, and Dennis has been an amazing source of loving patience, quiet strength and unwavering support for Pam during her courageous battle with cancer. Pam and Dennis are the very proud parents of Kris, Brad and Tony, and they absolutely cherished their role as Grandma and Grandpa to Janae, Ashley, Nicholas and Matthew. Even when Pam's body was racked with cancer, she and Dennis thought nothing of taking a multi-hour road trip to Texas to visit their precious grandchildren. Pam's working career started out, like all of her siblings, at a young age in their family owned Rainbow Florist and Greenhouses in Cedar Falls. In her adult years, Pam pursued a successful career in banking, initially at National Bank, and then John Deere Credit Union/Veridian. Pam adored her extended family and eagerly attended every family reunion at cabins in Minnesota and Twin Lakes. She always loved a party and was truly in her glory at the recent weddings of her nieces -- Anne and Nick, Stephanie and Aaron, and Emily and Jake -- surrounded by loved ones and close friends. Friendships played a huge role in Pam's life, and she was blessed with many. Over the years, Pam shared her sweet personality, sharp mind and fun sense of humor with the women in her Book Club and Bridge Club, as well as her girlfriend travel group, The Potluck Gals. When she wasn't with family or friends, Pam loved to go to the movies, work in the garden, or immerse herself in a good book. To her last breath, Pam truly embraced the joys of life, and in the words of her daughter Kris, she "did what she wanted to do and did things her way!" Pam was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Becky. Pam is survived by her husband Dennis, her three children, daughter Kris Johnson (Paul) McKinney, TX, sons Brad Seyffer (Julie) McKinney, TX, and Tony Seyffer of Manteca, CA, and four grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 am Friday, April 27, 2012, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 47:00 pm Thursday, April 26, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
